Tribute creation.and the background
I started to build this Tribute to The Victims of the Hixon Level Crossing Rail Disaster January 6th 1968 today.
The actual idea for the Hixon Memorial Garden to honour those killed in this tragic disaster was thought of by Joe Craen who lives in Hixon Village and is a committee member of Wellington Field Allotment Association. Guided by Joe the committee helped over the last 6 months of 2017 with other people to make the garden into what we see today.
Tim Moss, Hixon Church Warden and Malcolm Garner also deserve all our thanks.
Malcolm also put together the Exhibition of this Rail Disaster which told the events leading up to the crash and the lessons learned since.
We hope the families and friends add their personal contributions to this Tribute site.
I hope it brings joy and a little happiness to all the relatives and friends for those who lost their lives that day 50 years ago
Thanks for visiting this Tribute
